NSS Detected 2 Citizens of India Wanted for Committing Terrorism

The National Security Service of RA, within the framework of implementation of its functions to fight crime and international terrorism, as a result of operational and search measures undertaken on the basis of the data received from Interpol National Central Bureau of the RA Police, detected 2 citizens of India wanted for committing terrorism.

In particular, on 8 August 2019, the said persons arrived in Yerevan by Istanbul-Yerevan flight. On the same day, hours after receiving Interpol international wanted request, as a result of operational and search measures undertaken by the officers of the NSS of RA, one of the aforesaid citizens of India was detected and detained. It was found out that the latter is charged under various articles of the Criminal Code of India for the commitment of a number of grave crimes (including terrorism and murders). His fellow, who is also wanted by the law enforcement agencies of India for committing terrorism, murder and other crimes, on 14 August was detected as well and detained while attempting to cross Bagratashen border checkpoint.

The two citizens of India have been arrested.

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
